For over 30 years, a north west based cement manufacturer has specified high power Mitsubishi Electric variable speed drives (VSDs) due to their unrivalled reliability. Originally supplied and installed by DSC partner Newton Tesla; each of these VSDs has clocked up on average over 242,000 hours, running 24/7 in between annual maintenance shutdowns.

DSC partner Newton Tesla assisted in the development of a control system, which helps to reduce expensive downtime on an automotive industry production line.

In the textile industry, Eddy Current couplings have been very popular for rewind applications where adjustable tension control is required, although simple in operation they are costly to maintain and parts are becoming impossible to find in some cases.

A spun glass fibre manufacturer needed to address the over complicated process that existed in the drive trains within its textile spinning frames. The materials it manufactured were used extensively within the automotive industry.

When iFLY, the leading operator of indoor sky diving tunnels worldwide, needed new drives to continue delivering its unique experience at the company’s facility in Milton Keynes, it chose a powerful and highly reliable solution from the Drive Solutions Centre (DSC).

A major textile spinning company approached Drive Solutions Centre partner, Newton Tesla to improve the tension control on its bobbin winders.

The existing winders had a dancing arm, which were connected to a power rheostat controlling the voltage on to a torque motor.

A planned outage was required to replace one of four alternator units, each weighing in at 150 Tonnes. This lifting procedure would require a tandem lift from the two existing overhead cranes with precise speed matching of each crane.
